Woke up to cloudy skies and misty conditions this morning. Attended the Sunday service at Custer Wesleyan Church where we were made to feel very welcomed and invited to attend their potluck lunch - sounded nice but we needed to move on.
We skipped lunch and took the 1:30 tour of Wind Cave, the fifth-longest cave in the world. Our tour was primairly a series of natural narrow corridors, not many large rooms, and completely different than Jewel Cave or Carlsbad. Having seen 3-4 caves now we have to say the spelunking bug hasn't bitten yet.
On through Custer State Park (a slight delay while we cautiously manuvered our car through a herd of bison who were licking the water off the road) to Rapid City, where we enjoyed dinner at Outback Steakhouse. We arrived in Wall, SD, home of the world-famous Wall Drug Store (closed tonight but we'll visit tomorrow) and bought instant hot chocolate mix at a local grocery store and brought it back to the hotel to help us warm up. It's getting cold again and there may be snow on the way up from Colorado tonight or tomorrow.
Monday we plan to visit a Minuteman missle silo and then travel through the Badlands area.
